COMMEMORATING WORLD HEPATITIS DAY, ETANA HOLDS HEPATITIS A VACCINATION PROGRAMS WITH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Jakarta, 12 August 2026 - PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia (Etana) has held a series of hepatitis A vaccination activities at several health education institutions and hospitals in commemoration of World Hepatitis Day. A total of 570 participants have received vaccination through this series, with implementation still ongoing. The series opened at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, and continued at the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, as well as the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The main vaccination event was held at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) of Universitas Gadjah Mada in a combined seminar and vaccination format. The activity was a collaboration between students of the 2024 Doctoral Program cohort and the Department of Internal Medicine of FK-KMK UGM as a community service program, and carried the global theme of World Hepatitis Day 2026, "Let's Break It Down". A total of 375 vaccine doses were administered to the FK-KMK UGM academic community, comprising lecturers, education staff, and students.

The student age group is close to the transmission routes of hepatitis A, which generally originate from contaminated food and water. Clinically, hepatitis A in adults tends to cause more severe symptoms than in children.

"The need for protection against hepatitis A is real, and we believe that education and vaccination cannot be carried out alone. That is why Etana is always open to collaborating with anyone who shares the same concern, from hospitals, universities, and professional organizations to sports communities and regional governments," said Indra Lamora, Director of the Anti-Infectious and Vaccine Business Unit at Etana.

This year's series of activities is a continuation of the hepatitis A vaccination program that Etana has consistently run with a range of partners across various regions of Indonesia. The reach of this program extends from Aceh to Lampung and Yogyakarta, and touches diverse groups of society. Together with the Teaching Hospital of Universitas Syiah Kuala, Etana established a vaccination service center for the people of Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. In Jakarta, Etana, together with PrimaKu, Yayasan Cakra, and Universitas Indonesia, held vaccinations for children at Panti Asuhan Putra Utama 1, and worked with RSPAD Gatot Subroto to reach employees, their families, and the general public.

In the field of sports, Etana partnered with KONI Pusat (the Indonesian National Sports Committee) to hold hepatitis A vaccinations for young athletes, which was later expanded to the regions together with KONI DIY. Together with the Regional Government of Pesisir Barat, Lampung, Etana distributed 4,362 vials of vaccine covering 1,000 doses of hepatitis A and 3,362 doses of PCV-13. Etana has also actively engaged health professional organizations such as IDI (the Indonesian Medical Association), IDAI (the Indonesian Pediatric Society), and the Adult and Child Immunization Task Forces in educational activities for the general public and health workers.
